Newsarama spoke with New Crusaders writer Ian Flynn and editor Paul Kaminski about the NEW CRUSADERS: LEGACY graphic novel, set for release this July. Check it out for exclusive new pages and a sampling of the classic content included in the graphic novel! New Crusaders: Legacy gaps the bridge between Rise of the Heroes and Dark Tomorrow with The Shield teaching the New Crusaders about their predecessors’ lives as superheroes—which are some of the very best comic book stories from Red Circle Comics’ past. Kaminski emphasizes the importance of the presentation of the older comics, “The idea is to take readers on the exact same journey of discovery that the New Crusaders themselves are on – and build a deeper connection between the characters and the audience.”
The classic material contains stories by a multitude of famous classic comic industry names, “You’ve got the incredible artwork of Gray Morrow on The Black Hood, you’ve got the legendary Steve Ditko who lends his talents to Fly-Girl, the names go on and on,” exclaims Kaminski. “Alex Toth, Carmine Infantino, Dick Ayers, Chic Stone, Chris Ward, Rich Buckler, Rich Margopoulos, Stan Timmons, Lou Manna – I could go on forever!”
Also included in LEGACY is classic pulp hero The Fox—who will be returning in his own series this fall, to be written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Dean Haspiel.
